Dear Baby Q,

We went to Santa Barbara over the weekend to play with your Padrino Erik and Nina D, and while we were there your daddy and I bought you a beautiful fern to sit atop your dresser. It's a lovely little thing.

We've named her Lou.

I was a bit obsessed with getting you a dresser last week. It was all I could think about. So get you a dresser we did.

It's vintage and beautiful, but also way bigger then I was imagining.  We had to rearrange the furniture in our room a bit and move your rocking chair to the living room, but in the end I am very pleased with how it worked out.

The dresser has five drawers and each one is big. There is enough room for your socks and diapers and onesies in the top two drawers and the bottom three are big enough for your clothing from when you get home til your a toddler. It clean and simplistic so it's prefect for our home. Perfect for you.

And now mommy is spending all her free time folding your little shirts and pants and putting them away. Of course I still pull them out and look at them every chance I get...

... I try to imagine you in them, in our room. Cuddling with you. Rocking you. Putting you to sleep. Jumping on the bed...

In other news, mommy has been searching for some cute little things for you. My current obsession? Crib sheet and bumper fabric. I'm going to have your Grandma make them for me.

Dear baby,
while me and your daddy wait {and wait and wait and wait} to meet you and bring you home, I am making our little apartment home sweet home esk just for you...

We've decorated the living room and the kitchen.. all that's left is what will be your bathroom... and while I don't know whether you'll be a boy or a little lady, I do know that cute is cute no matter what.  And so, this is what your bathroom will look like....

and now dear sweet baby, I am on my way to buy paint for the walls cause your daddy says I may paint! One wall is all he says I may cover. {{But what happens if I buy enough for the whole bathroom? Hmmm, we shall see...}}

I love you my sweet baby. And not a day goes by that I don't hope and pray for the day we shall meet. It will be soon. I just know it. I can feel it in my bones. Before you know it I will be giving you bubble baths, and wrapping you in big fluffy towels each night. And, once you are dressed in comfy pajamas with pretty patterns mommy will kiss you from head to toe. I shall read you a bedtime story, {or three, or four} and rock you to sleep in my arms. And then I will kiss you goodnight once more.

In fact baby, I will cuddle you and hug you so much that sometimes you may get sick of it. But just know, I am making up for lost time. I love you.

I bought you a present..

I bought you a present today baby. And, I just know your going to love it. I had one when I was little too, and so when I saw it, I knew you had to have one ... after all, it's kind of amazing. If I'm honest with myself it's probably just as much for me as it is for you. {But, shh. Don't tell daddy. }

Did I tell you we're number three on the waiting list baby? Soon, so very soon I will meet you.

I'm counting down the days, even though I don't know how long they will be. We're hoping and praying we get to meet you as soon as possible... not only so we can prepare for you, but also so we can try and bring you home before the Ugandan courts close for the summer. If I have to wait to bring you home for months after I've seen your sweet face I may just die.

Hopefully it will be so. Hopefully it will be soon.

I have a whole box of baby things for you now baby. I had to have Tia Koko give me a new, bigger box after they moved because my old baby box was too small. I have all kinds of things in that box. Dresses for girls, cups for toddlers, books for babies, shirts for boys. I bought you the cutest dress ever if your a girl. If not, Aunty Liz will like it very much I'm sure.

That is the good thing about having little aunts and uncles baby... not only do you get automatic friends, I also don't feel as bad buying things you may never wear.. because they can wear it if you can't.

I love you baby. I can't wait to hold you and kiss you and tell you your home forever.

My dear sweet baby,

On tuesday I sent off our home-study paperwork. One step closer to finishing our to do list. One step closer to meeting you and holding you in my arms for the very first time....

I think of you often. I wonder if you will be a tiny little man or a sweet baby girl. I wonder what we'll name you, and what you'll look like. I think of getting my first picture of you, and finally putting a face and a name to our first little one. I can't wait until you are in my arms forever.

I pray everyday that your being held and loved. I hope someone is kissing you goodnight {like I did with so many sweet babies} and praying for your future mommy and daddy to find you. I pray that you'll love us the moment you meet us, and we'll know, without a doubt that your the one.

I've found sparkle shoes for you if you are a sweet baby girl , shoe's that I'll buy the instant I get home. And if your a tiny little man instead, I've already bought you your first hat. It's darling and I'm sure you'll love it and never want to take it off.

I love you more then you know already. I can't wait to kiss your little checks and tell you your home. Forever. And that I'm never ever going to stop loving you.

stockings are best when their b.i.g.

When I was liittle girl, my mom made all of us kids matching stockings for Christmas. They were beautiful. Perfect. And uniquely ours...

...so now, now that I'm about to be a mommy, I've been looking for special stockings for my little family...

I shall make a table out of the books I own...

A few nights ago, after our home study still hadn't come in the mail, and I was itching to do anything, something, I went online looking for one particular book that my sister, Rissa, had told me about. It's called there is no me without you, and literally made me cry reading the review on the book. I can't wait to have it...

So.

So, I went online to Amazon and bought it as quickly as I could. {because that very night I went to two different bookstores and neither had it in stock..} and then, while I was at it, {and frankly a bit bored} I started looking at baby books for baby ... {because everyone knows, baby can never have too many books!}

and I got..

..one of my very favorite books, Shaoey and Dot. It's about a little girl, waiting in an orphanage for parents and the little ladybug who watches over here. Seriously, if you haven't read it, you need to. I cried my eyes out the first time I read it to Elijah and Elizabeth. {and, while I'm being brutally honest, the second, third and fourth time too.. }

and then, of course I had to get Love You Forever. I love this book, and I love reading it. {especially when you are rocking a baby back and forth, back and forth...}

and, then, I need some reading material for me and husband man about our future baby and the adjustments baby will go through, right?!?

So, I got a few..

...in all, I actually bought eleven books for me and Ry and four for baby . But, the best part about Amazon is they sell used books. I actually got one for 50 cents plus shipping...

amazing...I tell you, simply amazing.

{and if need be, I shall make side tables out of all the books we now own. }
